Firecracker Chicken

Firecracker Chicken
Crispy, sticky, and just the right amount of trouble ” One bite and you’ll see where the name comes from.”

Sweet, spicy, and packed with flavour — this Firecracker Chicken combines ginger, garlic, and maple syrup to turn a humble cut of chicken into something truly memorable. Inspired by Chinese cuisine and ready in just ten minutes, it’s quick enough for a weeknight but elegant enough to serve as a main course with Jasmine rice and steamed vegetables. This is one recipe you’ll want to keep on repeat.

Difficulty Level : Easy
Prep Time : 10 Minutes
Cooking Time : 35 Minutes
Yield : Serves 4-6

INGREDIENTS
Serves 6

6 bone-in chicken thighs
1 Tablespoon Olive oil
1 Tablespoon Sesame oil
1/4 Cup Soy sauce
1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 lemon, juiced
2 Tablespoons Maple syrup
3 Garlic cloves, finely minced
1 Tablespoon Ginger, grated or minced
1/4 Teaspoon Pepperoncino (hot chili flakes)
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
1/2 Teaspoon Black pepper

PREPARATION

Make the marinade: In a large bowl, whisk together 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1 tablespoon sesame oil, the soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, 1 lemon juiced, Maple syrup, minced garlic, grated ginger, pepperoncino, salt & pepper.

Marinate the chicken: Add 6 bone-in chicken thighs to the bowl and toss to coat evenly. Cover and refrigerate for at least two hours or overnight for best flavour.

Preheat & transfer to dish: Preheat your oven to 200°C (392°F). Transfer the chicken to a 9×13″ baking dish and pour the marinade over top.

Bake for 35 minutes, basting halfway

Bake chicken until the internal temperature reaches 74°C (165°F)

Rest & serve: Let rest a few minutes, then serve with Jasmine rice and steamed vegetables.

Notes

You can cook the chicken in advance and simply reheat before serving, which makes this a great make-ahead main course. Serve with Jasmine rice and steamed vegetables for an elegant, well-rounded plate.
